In October 2018 Ms Cooney and Ms Mills ran ‘Bright Sparks’ Science Club for 3rd and 4th Class.

The girls had great fun hypothesizing and playing science detectives.  they took part in a construction activity using cocktail sticks and marshmellows.  Some girls took on the challenge to construct a 3-D NaCl (Sodium Chloride – Salt) molecule!

They studied a cross section of a plant to discover how cross-pollination takes place and they studied the human digestive system  when they discovered how smell can affect taste.

They also presented some of their work to prospective parents at the school’s open night.  The girls from 6th Class also helped out by demonstrating the project on sound for which they were awarded the RDS Primary Science Award in 2018 during their 5th Class school year.Well done girls!!
